The University of Amsterdam (UvA) welcomes a large number of new students every year. To recruit these students, there are, of course, open days.

But the UvA was looking for ways to let prospective students explore its campuses every day of the year. We joined forces and provided three interactive campus tours. With these tours, we turned every day into an open day for the UvA.

In this article, we'll tell you how we did that and what the result were.

Collaboration Intractive & UvA

Campus tours are physical tours you can start when you are on location. Students are introduced to the campus, its facilities and surroundings in a unique way. They also receive important information that gives students an idea of what it's like to study in the capital of the Netherlands.

Purpose of campus tours

The aim of the campus tours is to make every day an open day. To create the opportunity for everyone in the area to get acquainted with the UvA in a fun way.

Challenge: creating three tours in seven weeks

There was a tight deadline for creating the experiences. The three experiences had to be completely ready for use within seven weeks, but we succeeded!

The result of the collaboration

Each of the three experiences consists of around 30 content blocks, with an average duration of around 40 minutes. Packed with gamification and storytelling elements, the experiences are playful, varied and interactive.

Students can explore the following UvA campuses: Universiteitskwartier, Roeterseiland and Science Park.

Universiteitskwartier

In the vibrant, historic heart of Amsterdam lies the University Quarter. Here, students get the chance to discover the birthplace of the University of Amsterdam. Because of the beautiful old buildings, this tour also has a historical touch.

It's truly an experience of 34 content blocks, where it becomes very clear why the UvA is so important to the city.

Roeterseiland

In 30 content blocks ranging from multiple-choice questions to augmented reality elements, students discover this beautiful campus. While playing, they get information regarding the converted buildings and the vibrant surroundings of the eastern part of Amsterdam's city centre.

Science Park

Amsterdam Science Park is one of Europe's largest science campuses. It has more than plenty to show its prospective students, of course. 32 content blocks were developed to show what goes on at this campus. A very interesting tour that introduces this centre for research innovation and entrepreneurship in an innovative way.

A successful collaboration asks for more

The collaboration went very smoothly. Both the University of Amsterdam and Intractive are very satisfied with the results. A reason to get together again to create a virtual experience about the city and UvA.

You will be able to try this interactive content experience remotely and it will start with a map that comes to life with AR.

Stay tuned for the result of this physical tour for the UvA!
