Intractive is a fast-growing Dutch tech company transforming how organisations tell their stories. Our platform lets corporates and universities create interactive, social-media-inspired content experiences backed by science. Our engineering team consists of a hands-on CTO with a broad technical background, a creative frontend-focused developer, and a product manager. We’re looking for someone who strengthens the team with technical depth, data expertise, and the discipline to build complex systems reliably.

The Role

As our Software Engineer, you’ll work across the entire stack — from our React-powered story builder to our NestJS backend and APIs. You’ll ship features that thousands of users interact with daily and have a direct impact on the product from day one. Your focus is on the backend and data integrations: we’re investing heavily in connections with external data sources and statistical features that deliver measurably better outcomes for our clients.

Because we’re a small team, we expect you to also be involved with the customer-facing side of the business. You’ll talk with Customer Success about what clients need, contribute to product direction, and optimise for better outcomes for both clients and end users.

What You’ll Do

• Design and build backend services and APIs in NestJS/Node.js
• Develop data integrations with external platforms (analytics, CRM, LMS, and more)
• Ship fullstack features end-to-end, from database to user interface in React
• Implement data pipelines and statistical processing that power product features
• Collaborate with product, design, and Customer Success in a flat startup environment
• Leverage AI tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) to develop faster and smarter
• Contribute to architectural decisions, scalability, and the technical direction of the platform

Who We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of experience as a software engineer with strong knowledge of Node.js and React/TypeScript
• You have experience building robust APIs and working with databases and caching
• You have an affinity with data: integrations, analytics, or statistical processing are familiar territory
• You’re an AI-native developer who uses tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot daily
• You thrive in a startup environment — ambiguity doesn’t scare you, it motivates you
• You’re self-directed and take ownership: you don’t wait for instructions, you figure it out
• You’re diligent and structured: you know when to move fast and when to be thorough
• You communicate well in English; Dutch is a plus but not required
• Bonus: experience with EdTech, MarTech, data visualisation, or interactive content
